Joint Press Release from the CYCL and LWRCL.
The following press release has been jointly issued by the management committees of the CYCL and LWRCL .........

After lengthy discussions and consultation with Member Clubs, the Central Yorkshire and Leeds - West Riding Cricket League have agreed to merge their competitions to form the Central Yorkshire Cricket League Alliance. This change will be effective from the start of the 2009 Season.

Member Clubs have been informed of the proposed league structure which will be finalised at the end of the 2008 Season. It will consist of a Premier and 1st Division with a corresponding Second Team Competition, followed by Divisions containing the remaining teams.

The new League will be the first “pyramid” league in Yorkshire, providing competitive cricket for all standards of ability; starting with 3rd teams, from established clubs, playing in other divisions, through ambitious clubs with one team and continuing upward to “elite” clubs with up to 3 teams and juniors. It will offer a clear progressive path for clubs that are prepared to invest in their facilities,
grounds and playing membership.

Further announcements will be made shortly.
