The inaugral Birstall Floodlit 50 competition got under way last night with the hosts Birstall taking on Liversedge in the first 'semi-final'.
The event is being staged over 3 nights (14th, 15th &16th August) and it takes the form of a simple knockout competition with the final being staged on Thursday 16th August at Birstall CC .

Once again, as seems the norm this season, the weather played its part in the proceedings with the scheduled 25 overs per innings being reduced to 20.

Last nights game saw Birstall emerging victorious and they will go on to meet the winners of tonight's game between New Farnley and  Scholes (6.45pm start) in the final.

All are welcome for the remaining games (6.45pm start)- plenty of food (BBQ), drink (real ale) and music.  Keep your fingers crossed for some decent summer weather!!
