Welcome to the new season

It is traditional for the President to mark the start of a new season with a message to all participating clubs in The Central Yorkshire Cricket League. Therefore, firstly, I must apologise for being a little bit late getting to the starting line, due unfortunately to a family bereavement.

The first two weekends have seen exceptionally warm weather and sunshine to give us a wonderful start to our new season,let’s hope for a lot more of the same for the rest of the summer, hoping that any rainfall comes mid week to the aid our groundsmen.

Cricket fans all over England are bemoaning the failure of our International team in the Carribean, but here in Yorkshire things are seemingly looking up, the County side have got off to a flying start, and we wish them well in all competitions. A successful Yorkshire would do wonders for cricket at all levels throughout the county.

To all our member clubs in the CYCL good luck to you for season 2207, let’s play the game hard and fair, but most importantly let us enjoy our cricket, whether player, official, umpire, helper or spectator.

By mid September there will be satisfaction for some and heartache for others, but wasn’t it always thus!!
