 Northowram awarded ClubMark
Congratulations to NORTHOWRAM Fields CC whose centenary year has got off to a flying start with the award of ClubMark status.

Ann Greenwood received their certificate from Tony Bowry of the Yorkshire Cricket Board at their first junior coaching session of the season attended by more than 40 youngsters at Hipperholme Grammar School on Sunday.

New Central Yorkshire League president John Stabler and chairman Chris Madden attended the event.

ClubMark status signifies an excellent club set-up with safeguards in place for youngsters. Northowram have a rapidly-expanding junior section and expect to have eight newly-qualified coaches in place for the 2007 season.

The award should also help Northowram Fields press on with a programme of improvements, which includes a replacement pavilion. Bowry said organisations earning ClubMark status were propelled to the head of the queue of those seeking grants.

Club vice-chairman Steve Goodwin praised Ann Greenwood and first team player Chris Thompson for their work in obtaining ClubMark and also thanked Halifax League club Blackley, one of the first clubs in the Halifax area to gain ClubMark, for their help with the application.
