The management committee are delighted to announce that John Stabler has agreed to become the new president of CYCL.

John is well known within the local sporting fraternity but for those of you who do not know him, he has submitted the following CV:

Born :
2/11/45 York, England

Educated :
Tang Hall Infants & Junior School, York. Ashville College, Harrogate.

Family :
My Lovely wife Jean, 4 children & 6 grandchildren.

Career :
Lloyds Bank Plc, York & Halifax branches, 1962 – 1966.
Bondina (Sales) Ltd, Sales Representative, 1966 – 1975.
Sales Agent, 1975 – 1982.
Formed John Stabler (Textiles) Ltd in 1982. After 2 moves we have been @ 20 Roundhay Road, Leeds, LS7 1AB since 1989.

Sport
Played league Cricket for 29 season’s (at a very modest level) with York RI, Crossgates, Old Manor C.C and Horbury Cricketers.
Lifetime supporter of York RLFC (for my sins), became Director January 1986 and chairman in 1991, stood down in 1996.
Joined the board of Gateshead Thunder Super League in 1999, and moved to Hull FC (following the merger of the two clubs).
Left the Hull FC board in 2002.
President Yorkshire County Rugby League 1991.
These days I only watch the occasional game of Rugby League, as my commitments to family and cricket have taken more and more of my leisure time.
I am very honoured to have been invited to be President of the Central Yorkshire Cricket League, and I will do my utmost to increase the profile and good name of our league, the finest in the “great” county of Yorkshire.
