East Leeds Cricket Club had to cancel Saturdays game (16-09-06) following damage by the Tornado, which hit the Leeds area on Thursday.The Tornado passed across the bottom half of the East Leeds ground with devastating effects
 

East Leeds secretary Wendy Olbison said: ”The field was strewn with fallen trees and branches but miraculously no one was hurt and the Clubhouse remained intact”.


The major damage was to the artificial wicket that was ripped but should be repaired in time for next season.
It is thought that it is the first time that a cricket match has been cancelled due to a Tornado in the UK.
