Costcutter Cup 2006
With memories still fresh of last seasons Costcutter Cup final win against the Bradford League, The Central Yorkshire League start their defence of the title against Wetherby League at Ossett on 4 June.

The reservoirs may be dry in the south of the country but that didn’t stop a second successive wash out as the rain bucketed down in West Yorkshire. In most cases, the usual card games didn’t even get a look in as most games were cancelled as soon the visitors arrived.

Week 4 saw almost a complete washout as persistant rain prevented play in the majority of matches. Play was however started at Methley, Mirfield PC, Wakefield SM & Wrenthorpe as the premiership sides attempted to snatch points against their fellow challengers.

The weather was kind for the opening day of the 2006 season as this years title favourites all started with wins in damp but warm conditions.
