Statement from CYCL chairman David Sharp

Following a meeting of Senior Management of the CYCL and LWRCL it was duly agreed by both parties after lengthy discussions that –
1) The LWRCL will merge with the CYCL with CYCL Management having control of all major issues relevant to the running and progress of the Alliance.
2) The Steering Committee, which has done sterling work in valuable areas, will be disbanded with immediate effect. The remaining work required will be steered into place by CYCL Management and all clubs within that envelope will be informed of its proposals and progress. Certain elements of the Steering Committee’s findings up to this time which are positive and progressive will be utilised accordingly.
3) It was agreed that selective Management input from the LWRCL will be used at Executive level on a proportionate basis. The selection of personnel will have to be agreed accordingly.
4) The LWRCL will have to return to the table in order to do a ‘selling job’ on their clubs to convince them of the positive nature of the merger.
The CYCL wishes to make it quite clear that following this meeting the LWRCL will form and take a full and active part in the Alliance.
The proposed divisional structure is to be slightly amended and clubs will be informed. This will have minimal effect on CYCL clubs but will still provide scope for progress in the Alliance for the LWRCL clubs.

In conclusion it now remains for us to make quick progress in the furtherment and running of a successful Alliance.
